英国留学申请全过程（包括中介和DIY）
从2016年5月开始一直到现在，我经历了一场非常曲折的留学申请，现在想要分享一下我的故事和一些我自己的领悟，有点长，但是希望能够对大家有帮助。
一、 本人背景以及最后申请结果
211大学（网排31，2013）；英语专业；GPA 3.44；雅思7
打算申请Marketing，总共收到5所学校的offer（巴斯 management；曼大 management；利兹 两个Marketing;伯明翰 两个Marketing;克兰菲尔德 marketing）
二、 中介体验
大概4月的时候，我和我朋友开始担心留学中介的事情，当时想的是能够让中介早点为我们定学校和写文书，事实证明我们想错了，所有资料在10月前准备完都来得及。一共拜访了5家北京的中介（启德、天道、环球雅思、金吉列、新东方）
新东方： 很不靠谱，一直在向我承诺我能去我想去的学校，但是我当时GPA 3.3 雅思 6.5，根本是不可能的事
金吉列：分析还算中肯，但是1万7只申请3所学校，价格太高
其他三所分析较为中肯，印象还算不错，价格在1万3到1万5之间，帮助申请5-6所
最后选择的是环雅，因为朋友的熟人是在那儿弄的，但是这是我做过的最糟糕的一次决定，因为和朋友一起，给了优惠，价格是1万+3000（申G5的文书）。说起环雅就真的非常气愤，当时我以为什么都可以抛给中介做，但是这是根本不可能的事。留学顾问特别不专业，推荐的6所学校以及专业看似很符合我的标准，但是他没有告诉我有几所是需要专业背景或工作背景的，这些都是我自己上学校官网和发邮件给学校问出来的。更可怕的是他家的文书老师，当初承诺让文案总监帮我们写，结果没有兑现，找了两个文书老师，文笔极差，都比不上我自己写的文书，并且文书写到一半就离职了，我的文书就一直被搁置，可笑的是我去他们公司的时候发现有好几个学生都是我这种情况。根据我以及我身边的朋友的经历，只想说所有的留学中介都不靠谱，唯一靠谱的只有自己。
三、 申请过程
大约8月，开始自己写文书加准备资料。以下是我的整个流程：
1. 首先把自己想去的学校加专业选好（各种渠道：利用中介给的信息、知乎、学校官网咨询、问学长学姐）；建议大家可以先去中介问问，知道一个大概的方向，然后自己回来查所介绍的学校的信息（百度、贴吧、知乎），把自己的背景信息发给小秘，问问有多少概率能够被录上。
2. 自己在学校官网申请账号（一般进官网搜Application就可以出来注册页面），找到学校对于文书的要求，当然也可以直接邮件问小秘；比如爱丁堡、曼大、杜伦…都要求PS在500字以内。
3. 所要准备的文书包括Personal Statement；两封推荐信（可以两封学术，当实习公司很厉害时，可以一封学术，一封工作），PS内容的要求基本上是描述为什要选择在他们学校留学，什么让对这个专业感兴趣，学这个专业有什么优势，还有一些什么经历能展现你是一个优秀的人。推荐信一般自己写然后给老师签字，如老师愿意也可以让他们帮你写。推荐信的内容需要交代推荐人和自己的关系，对你的印象，说出你的优点（和申请专业相关的）以及不算是缺点的缺点，注意让你的推荐人写上他的全部联系方式（电话、邮箱、职称）。
4. 找到学校官网，输入Application，便找到申请的入口，接下来只要按步骤填写其所需要的信息就可以了，不懂词或句子可以百度一下。
四、 建议
1. 大三开始准备雅思，不论报多少场，请务必在申请前达到你想要的成绩（商科一般要求7（小分6.5））。
2. 如有意留学并且需要转专业，请大二选择双学位或者多修相关选修课
3. 中介提供的服务：帮你择校、写文书、官网填申请表、缴费、申请宿舍。如果英语实在很差你可以找中介帮助，但是你不用找知名的，你可以上淘宝搜，然后找到评价很好的那种，反而会更加靠谱，或者上知乎看看别人的推荐。能读懂英语并且有时间有精力的学生请不要找中介，因为你完全有能力读懂官网上的英文，并且中介写的文书不一定能令你满意，还得时常催促，会让你更加烦恼。你如果需要文书方面的帮助，请找你的英语老师和外教，如果找不到，请上一个网站叫芝士圈留学，最后是一个相关专业的外国人帮我写的文书，很让我满意。
4. 你需要准备的东西：PS、2封推荐信、中英实习证明（扫描件）、中英成绩单（扫描件）、GPA证明（扫描件）、雅思成绩单（扫描件）、一张visa或者mastercard信用卡（因为中介帮你付钱的话，它会多收你钱，汇率一般在10的样子）。
5. 如果你想要申请英国的商科的话，请问清楚学校后再考GMAT，因为除G5外大部分学校专业是不需要的，不要把时间浪费在它上面。

Personal Statement （for MSc Management）

Having majored in English at (xx University), my courses such as Translation and Reading, required us to read articles about Management and Marketing. Research was a key component of my undergraduate degree, and from this experience I have developed a keen ability to collect and analyze data. I also read Peter F. Drucker’s The Daily Drucker and Philip Kotler’s Principles of Marketing during my leisure time to get some basic knowledge. Rather than the more conventional aspects of English Literature and Linguistics, it was these attributes that motivated me most, so I now look forward to developing my abilities with graduate work at (申请的大学).
Management is an applied science that calls for constant practice based on a mastery of its theories and principles. To better understand management, I am now reading Peter F. Drucker's The Effective Executive, and have enrolled on The Principles of Management and Corporate Strategies modules (I will not gain credit, but will gain important knowledge). I have also worked to gain related experience: I was Vice President of （学习社团）, a student organization holding various competitions. For each contest, we needed to make clear plans addressing the whole process in advance. I communicated with each of the 12 involved departments, and made sure they could finish their commitments before deadlines.
In 2015, I interned at the Marketing Department of (公司). My main task was to make a product promotion plan for a new ceramic kettle. Initially, I could only finish my work by following others’ instructions, and spent ten hours per day collecting information, analyzing data, and negotiating with our advertising agency. However, the results were unsuitable, and my supervisor rejected the proposal. A colleague and I spent all night working to amend this, and proposed a more suitable plan that was accepted and well appreciated by my supervisor and our client. I realized I could manage a heavy workload, and that when left to find solutions I have the initiative to succeed. However, graduate training would enable me to be more effective in my work. This internship developed my communication and problem solving skills significantly, but I hope to move to the next level at (申请的学校).
For the past three years I have also been an active volunteer. Besides working as a volunteer teacher and translator in China, last year I worked for International Volunteer HQ. I was assigned to teach English in one of the poorest areas in Thailand and to assist local residents with outdoor jobs, like repairing roads and planting trees. I worked alongside volunteers from all over the world. Through this volunteer work, I was able not only to help others, but also to make new friends and learn how to communicate and cooperate with others.
My ambition is to work in the marketing office of a company in China that has an effective leadership development program. My time at (实习的公司) highlighted that there are areas I need to improve, and that I require more specialized knowledge. To make me more competitive, I am working hard on my current major, and I will try to attain the best grades possible. I am ready to commit myself, and am keen to learn and contribute. I am eager to succeed in my career, and look to (申请的学校) to advance my abilities.

My interest in marketing commenced with one of the courses in my sophomore year—Corporate Culture. In this class, we were asked to analyze Gore’s case and make a group presentation. My team focused on how Gore builds and develops its brand with its culture of innovation. While doing research, we read many of their product promotion plans and referred to various western textbooks, including Philip Kotler’s Principles of Marketing. Through our hard work, we achieved the highest score for our presentation in the class. This was my first contact with Marketing and I was deeply attracted by it. My teacher of this course told me that a career in Marketing was appropriate for my character. Her remarks encouraged me and further reinforced my determination to seek an advanced education in this fascinating area.

As a well-known saying goes, “curiosity is the source of exploration and advancement”. I am a student with a sense of spirit of pursuit and progress. I believe that enrolling in finance program would allow me to acquire theoretical knowledge from a global perspective, and I would be a valuable addition to your university.
With respect to my application reasons, first and foremost, although I am majoring in English during undergraduate studies, I came into contact with essays and articles concerning economics and finance on lessons, such as listening, reading, interpreting from the outset. Influenced by those honorable teachers and vivid courses, I was exceedingly fascinated with what I have learnt and obtained. Therefore, I selected the related major for my further study as that is what I am interested in, Secondly, during my internship, I gradually equipped myself with actual practice on finance related area. Thank to my accumulation of specialized English knowledge, I was accepted by International Volunteer HQ and worked as a volunteer in Thailand. I was engaged in teaching English to local students, assisting local residences in doing outdoor jobs, like road works and trees planting, together with volunteers from all over the world. This year, （实习公司） hired me as an intern in marketing department. I was mainly responsible for operating we-media, like Wechat and Weibo, translating technical documents and planning marketing activities. Through my hard work, I finally contributed to eventual cooperation between our company and another institution. These works tempered my capacity of communication and cooperation.
Four years’ professional English study enables me to quickly acclimatize myself to studying abroad. Meanwhile, our curriculum design is similar with foreign schools’. Therefore, I have already grasped critical thinking in solving problems. Through my experience as a student, a volunteer and an intern, I have become intensely interested in embracing new challenge on new starting point. It encourages me to enter the academia in 2017 with clear career target. My aspiration is to firmly grasp essence in financial area and lay a solid foundation for my future development. Moreover, I would like to connect globally talented candidates to Chinese companies.
