Introduction

Imagine stepping into a world where every brush stroke tells a story, and each character holds a piece of history. That’s what participating in our calligraphy events feels like. Over the past few months, we’ve organized 13 incredible sessions that brought together students from various backgrounds. Today, we’re sharing highlights, reflections, and lessons learned from these unforgettable gatherings.

The Opening Ceremony: Setting the Tone

Our first event kicked off with an opening ceremony filled with excitement and anticipation. We welcomed participants with traditional Chinese tea and snacks, setting a warm and inviting atmosphere. The master of ceremonies, Prof. Zhang, shared inspiring words about the importance of calligraphy in preserving cultural heritage. It was a perfect start, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among attendees.

Workshop #1: Basics of Brush Holding & Strokes

In this introductory workshop, we focused on the fundamentals—how to hold the brush correctly and execute basic strokes. Under the guidance of expert calligrapher Ms. Li, everyone learned to create simple characters with grace and precision. Even those who had never tried calligraphy before left feeling confident and eager to practice more.

Event #2: Cultural Immersion Through Calligraphy

For our second event, we aimed to deepen participants' understanding of Chinese culture through calligraphy. We invited a panel of experts who discussed the historical significance of different scripts and styles. Attendees also had the chance to try their hand at writing famous poems and proverbs, gaining a deeper appreciation for the art form’s role in Chinese literature.
