继6月2日美国国务院再次召开新闻发布会，就前段时间白宫官网发布的《暂时禁止部分中国留学生、研究人员入境总统公告》迅速作出反应和解释，特别强调：“希望参与此发布会的每个媒体回去都可以在开头用大号加粗的字体写上，我们继续欢迎并重视绝大多数中国学生和学者的贡献。高校方面，西北大学和康奈尔大学率先发声，表明自己“力挺中国留学生”的立场。
